Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about sports-fandom social matching, Scout, Fresh Scout, Shared Seats, Base, locked teams, Scout Range, Rivalry Mode, email verification, and memberships.
What is Team-M8tes?
Team-M8tes is a sports-fandom social matching platform for fans who want to connect through real team loyalty, shared sports identity, and mutual interest. The platform is designed to help people discover compatible fans in a safer, more authentic way by anchoring connections around locked teams, preferences, location settings, and user-controlled visibility.
Why do I lock my teams?
Locked teams keep fandom authentic. They help prevent people from jumping between teams just to connect with someone and make the fan pool more genuine.
Can I change my locked teams?
Locked teams are designed to stay locked. You may be able to add more teams if your membership allows, but you cannot freely remove or swap teams once they are locked.
Can I edit the rest of my profile?
Yes. You can update your Player Card, photos, profile details, preferences, current location, Scout Range, visibility, and other Base settings. Your locked teams are the main commitment that cannot be freely changed.
Can I downgrade my membership?
Self-serve downgrades are not currently available because locked teams are meant to reflect committed fandom, not seasonal swapping. You can upgrade to add more teams or manage/cancel your membership from Base.
What is Scout?
Scout is where you discover compatible fans based on your locked teams, preferences, verified current location, Scout Range, and active filters.
What is Scout Range?
Scout Range lets you choose how far Team-M8tes searches from your verified current location. Your hometown is part of your profile identity, but Scout uses your verified current location for proximity.
Does Team-M8tes track my location in the background?
No. Team-M8tes only updates your current location when you choose to update it.
What is Fresh Scout?
Fresh Scout checks for a new set of compatible fans based on your current Scout settings.
What are Shared Seats?
Shared Seats are mutual connections. When both users show interest, they can view each other’s Player Cards and chat in one place.
What is Base?
Base is your profile and account hub. You can manage your Player Card, Fandom Locker, profile details, current location, Scout Range, visibility, and membership.
What is Rivalry Mode?
Rivalry Mode is an optional way to discover compatible fans through team rivalries.
Do I need to verify my email?
Yes. Email verification helps protect the trust and integrity of the Team-M8tes community. You will need to verify your Team-M8tes email before your account becomes active and before entering Scout.
How does the free trial work?
Users can try Team-M8tes free during the trial period. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged.
How do I cancel?
Go to Base → Account & Membership → Manage or cancel subscription.
Are you affiliated with leagues or teams?
Team-M8tes is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any professional league, team, or trademark owner unless specifically stated. Team names are used only to describe fan preferences.
How do reporting and blocking work?
Users can report or block other users. Reports go to moderation, and blocks remove unwanted interactions.
Is Team-M8tes only for one sport?
No. Team-M8tes supports fandom across multiple major sports and college teams where available.
Do I need to be a die-hard fan?
No. You just need to care enough about your teams that they say something about who you are.
Is Team-M8tes an adult-content platform?
No. Team-M8tes does not allow adult content, sexual services, escort services, paid sexual interactions, pornography, or sexually explicit commercial activity. Team-M8tes is built around sports fandom, fan compatibility, mutual interest, and user-controlled connections.
